How on earth............??

Look what we found in my car this morning! We cannot begin to imagine just how this little guy jumped up into my Jeep but jump he obviously did.

My husband had given the vehicle a thorough clean out yesterday so the doors were open for a few hours whilst he vacuumed a zillion yellow labrador dog hairs out from the carpet... and sometime or another this little mouse decided to hitch a ride. I imagine he had a pretty disconcerting overnight stay - he certainly did not look on top form when we found him.... he has now been removed to greener pastures and hopefully he won't be returning in a hurry.

  3. Why country mice so much cuter than city mice? I deal with them here in New York constantly, so I should know.

  4. His cousins visit the cupboard under the sink from time to time and have to be forcibly evicted - one of the joys of country living! This little one looks quite ready to go for a ride.

  5. Such a cute little thing. Even the mice are cuter in England. I want to thank you for visiting me and leaving me such nice comments. I wish I could her your accent. I love how wonderfully the english talk. So much different than how we talk in Idaho,USA. I.m loving your blog!

  6. He sure looks cute, but I too would have evicted him and sent him on his way back to the green meadows from wence he came! We live near a large woods and mice are a daily thing for us as well. Once we had one in the bedroom and from 3 to 5 am DH and I tried to chase it out the door without harming it, and finally succeeded in catching it with a pool net. I hope that little mouse appreciated how much we respect wildlife! WE had a sleepless night and woke up looking worse for wear the next morning, much like your little guy here did after his night in the car. :-)

  8. Veronica, he is so precious! I know they can carry germs and I certainly don't want one in my cupboard, but I never understood why people have such loathing for mice. I think they are adorable.

  13. Oh dear, the poor mouse is certainly not in its right habitat! The same thing has happened to us too (on several occasions actually), a mouse found its way into our Jeep and chewed the safety belts almost into peaces (with quite a pricey result), so maybe Jeeps are not mouse free (our current car is not a Jeep, and no mouse damage has been reported so far...)

  14. What a fantastic blog you have going here!!
My husband, my Prince is from South London and we still have a daughter there and one in Wales.
We come over the pond quite often though we haven't made it yet this year. Right now, it's easier for the girls to come to us.
I will definately be back to visit you and if you have a moment or two of your life that you'd care to waste, please visit me at my blog and do say hello.
    Take good care and........

  15. I have just discovered your blog whilst paying a visit to Dreaming of Wild Roses. Your name caught my eye as Veronica was my Mum's name too. What a great photo of the mouse! We occasionally see these woodmice in our garden, especially when there is spilt birdseed to be found. Did you know that mice can nest underneath car bonnets! x

  16. Oh MY........that's hilarious. What if you'd been driving down the road and it came running out? How frightening....Cute little guy though.

Loved your hen story. We used to have chickens.....years ago. Henny Penny, Lizzy, Big Bird and the Polanski twins........my daughter named them.

Thank you so much for coming to my blog. My grandparents emigrated to the US about 1920....from Manchester. Lots of English blood here.

    Blessings,
    Spencer
